The Western Jackson Heights Alliance is a community organization of Jackson Heights residents working together to improve the quality of life in the neighborhood. Jackson Heights deserves a clean, quiet and healthy environment; the WJHA is dedicated to making it happen. We are committed to bringing city agencies, business interests, non-profit organizations and elected officials together to form and enact a coherent plan—short and long-term—for our neighborhood’s survival. WJHA’s goal is to create a sustainable plan for our neighborhood’s future development using community-based planning to rebalance our neighborhood’s public space toward the needs of our community, not vehicular traffic. WJHA’s immediate goals are to:
·   Reduce congestion and improve transportation ·   Reduce noise
·   Improve pedestrian safety ·   Keep our streets clean ·   Preserve, protect and expand greenspace ·   Obtain a moratorium on all new commercial development in our neighborhood until these quality of life issues are adequately addressed		Join the WJHA
Action Plan
·   Increase pressure on key public officials to take action ·   Improve basic enforcement of existing laws by the local precinct
·   Bring greater attention to issues by encouraging residents to consistently report complaints ·   Advocate for research and long-term planning ·   Participate in clean street and tree planting efforts ·   Keep residents informed on key issues affecting our neighborhood
·   Increase our membership to strengthen our united voice
